Alas, from the perfume hobby point of view there’s nothing really interesting. Mandy Aftel’s Essence & Alchemy although being non-fiction gives a much more exciting account of perfume history on the whole including Grenouille’s period.
From the interest in maniacs' point of view – Silence of the Lambs – that’s the ultimate reading for getting inside the mind of a aesthetically obsessed maniac.
